Thierry Rayna, Professor of Economics at Novancia Business School Paris, presents at the 3D Printing Event: “Overcoming Challenges, Leveraging Opportunities: Economic Policy & Regulation for 3D Printing”.
The industrial ‘revolution’ brought about by 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing technologies calls for an extensive rethinking of Economic Policies and Regulation. This talk will focus on three critical aspects: Industry Policy and support to innovation, Competition policy, Standardisation. It will be shown that only proactive policies will enable to overcome the challenges brought about by 3D Printing and, thereby, fully reap the benefits of this major technological change.

Thierry Rayna is a Professor of Economics at Novancia Business School Paris. Beforehand, he worked for 10 years in the UK, where he held academic positions at Imperial College London, the LSE, University of Cambridge and UCL. Thierry Rayna is a Digital Economy specialist. His research investigates the radical changes brought about by digital technologies on Business Models, Ecosystems and the Economy as a whole. Thierry Rayna has served as an advisor for policy makers (e.g. U.S. Federal Trade Commission, Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, EPO) and major companies of the media, telecommunication and cultural industries. He also mentors start-ups.
