“LeBigRep” is a DIY research project, which tries to prove that opensource 3D-printing technology is also feasible for printing large-scale (>1m^3) objects, exceeding the dimensions of desktop 3dprinting machines.
The machine itself is a lightweight construction and uses mostly recyclable materials and easily accessible off the shelve parts to comply with bootstrappability.
Ultimately, determined by its printing-material hungry nature, it is planned to be a closed loop system, where plastic-material can be recycled and directly fed back into the printing machine.
