Introducing N12, the first 3D printed Bikini

One of the main principles behind Continuum is pushing the possibilities of digital fabrication tools in creating designs that specifically reflect the technology behind the manufacturing process. Lasercutting has been a long-time favorite of ours, and with D.dress, the design’s complexity greatly benefits from the precision of the machine. Lasercutting is becoming increasingly more popular in the fashion and soft goods industry, as it fits readily into the standard production pipeline.

 

However, my main frustration with lasercutting is that it still results in a stack of fabric pieces that need to be sewn together. Moreover, the more complex the design, the more difficult it is to assemble all the pieces.
