Hackathon: ‘Develop a toolkit to 3D design and 3D Print’

With the fast growth of the 3D Printing industry, it is becoming clear that the weakest chain in the value chain to get a 3D product printed, are the design tools and the easy conversion to a 3D printing format.
There are many design tools and related hardware solutions available, but most are related to traditional input methods like the mouse etc.
With the advent of the Wii, Micosoft Kinect and Leapmotion, new input methods will become available for designing 3D objects.

The Challenge
Develop a toolkit to 3D design and 3D Print, based upon Wii or Microsoft Kinect, Leapmotion or any other innovative device, not being a traditional mouse, in 32 hours.

The results of the challenge will be presented during the International 3D Printing Event, 23 October 2012, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
The Challenge will run for 2 days, 19/20 October at High Tech Campus Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

Attendance is limited and we want to gather a group of committed, invested participants for a productive and interesting session.

We’ll look at the software tools, and the technology. Feel you can contribute in any of those? Then this is the place to be for you!

Our partners will provide hardware and related SDK’s and other software tools.

At the end of the Hackathon a jury will judge your tools. The winning team can win great prizes!

We expect max. 40 participants, who will work in teams of around 2-6 individuals.
