A New Name in 3D Micro Printing

We have seen micro-printing in the 3D space before, including tiny batteries and circuit boards.  These have all been single focus projects, until now.  A new partnership has been announced by 3dprintingindustry.com that could mean big things for micro 3D printing.

German 3D industrial printer manufacturer EOS and 3D-Micromac, another German company specializing in laser micro-machining, have joined together to form a new venture called 3D MicroPrint GmbH.  The goal of this company will be to develop and further explore Micro Laser Sintering (MLS) technology as well as to find new solutions in micro-printing.

Both companies are very excited about the partnership with the founder of EOS, Hans Langer, saying “Demand for very small parts which are difficult to manufacture using conventional processes is rising tremendously.  Micro Laser Sintering provides solutions for three major trends: individualization, functional integration and miniaturization.”  One of the business managers the new company, Joachim Gobner, added to Langer’s statement saying “Working with layer thickness of ≤ 5 µm, focus diameters of ≤ 30 µm and powder particle size of ≤ 5 µm, the MLS technology opens up new dimensions.  With MLS it is even possible to produce moveable component assemblies.” … (Read more)
