3D Printed speakers with an LED lightshow

A three-person engineering team from Autodesk is getting loads of attention for their amazing creation: 3D printed audio speakers, embedded with LED lights that use an app from startup LumiGeek to react to changes in sound.

A multi-material Objet Connex500 3D printer by Stratasys turned this idea into reality.

The speakers are aesthetically pleasing, offer good sound quality and are completely portable. The base of the speakers (used to house the speaker component) was 3D printed in TangoBlackPlus, a rubber-like black material that is both strong and flexible. The “crystal” pieces that house the LED lights were printed in VeroClear, a rigid transparent material and perfect for LumiGeek’s audioreactive LED light show.
