Presentation / interview with César Stüpp, Brightlands Materials Center / TNO.
Fused filament fabrication (FFF) is a very versatile AM technique, although it is widely used for prototyping due to their limited mechanical properties, especially in between layers. To approach this matter, a novel technique was developed in which the strength in between layers was increased in 184%, which results in stronger parts.

Maxime Legrand, Sirris, will speak at 3D Printing Materials Conference on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.
New materials are emerging in SLS 3D printing. How to make the best of it? In this presentation, we will consider TPU printing with SLS and how it is possible to change its mechanical properties through parameters optimization and lattice structures.

Lucas Janssen, CEAD, will speak at 3D Printing Materials Conference on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.
CEAD is a technology supplier on the frontier of composite additive manufacturing. The Continuous Fibre Additive Manufacturing, or CFAM in short, is unique and enables the rapid production of large composite parts such as moulds, facade cladding elements and exterior panels for trains and boats.

Nirali Surati, DSM, will speak at 3D Printing Materials Conference on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.
This is a two-part presentation in partnership with AMT.
The ‘eco system’ approach from materials – printer – to post processing (part one) presented by DSM
The ‘eco system’ approach from materials – printer – to post processing (part two) presented by AMT
The Additive Manufacturing landscape today consists of several moving parts such as materials, machines, software, post processing technologies etc. that all need to work in harmony to ensure a positive experience for users. Varied stakeholders in the industry cater to each of these moving parts forming the ecosystem of additive manufacturing. These seemingly disconnected steps have a broad influence on the additive manufacturing experience and hence its wider adoption. The presentations talk about how DSM and AMT are working on these challenges with a combined eco-system approach.

Abdellatif Bey-Temsamani, Flanders Make, will speak at 3D Printing Design & Engineering Conference on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.
With the industrial transition to use Additive Manufacturing (AM) for Series Production, AM machine builders, SW/HW providers and end-users are confronted with different challenges to increase productivity, decrease lead time and produce parts with high quality. The current practice is however far from reaching the desired productivity and quality that are translated to large scrap rate in current production. This presentation will highlight examples for opportunities, based on industrial projects conducted by Flanders Make, to improve the AM process and machines leading to reduce lead time, increase productivity and reduce the scrap rate.

Arjan de Bruin, Vereniging ION, will speak at 3D Printing Post-Processing Conference on April 17, 2019, during 3D Printing Event in The Netherlands.
The attention of the industry involved in additive manufacturing for surface treatment seems very small. People are mainly still busy with construction rules, powder compositions and laser technology. The “surface technology” process block is left blank in many presentations. Incorrectly in the opinion of Vereniging ION. After all, if a product is made according to the additive manufacturing method, a state-of-the-art surface treatment is necessary for proper preservation, improvement of material properties or from an aesthetic point of view.

Onno Ponfoort, Berenschot, will speak at AM Integrated Factory Conference, on April 17, 2019, during 3D Printing Event in The Netherlands.
Many industrial sectors require quality assurance and certification for parts to be used. Additive manufacturing holds the promise to allow customization of the design of parts, to meet case specific demands. But certification of each individual part is a time consuming and costly operation. This is an entrance hurdle for many ‘standards controlled’ industries.

Wolfgang Hansal, Hirtenberger Engineered Surfaces will speak at 3D Printing Post-Processing Conference on April 17, 2019, during 3D Printing Event in The Netherlands.
With the evolution of 3D-printing of metals from the prototyping scale towards a serial production the different steps in the production chain must be fully understood and adjusted to the each other in order to guarantee a constant and reproducible quality of the final products. Among the different process steps, the post-processing of AM metal parts is crucial but nevertheless still an open issue at industrial scale.
