Selective powder deposition: bringing multi-material capability to industrial additive manufacturing – Presented by Kevin Eckes, Aerosint SA

Selective powder deposition: bringing multi-material capability to industrial additive manufacturing – Presented by Kevin Eckes, Aerosint SA at the 3D Printing Materials Conference, on April 17, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Geleen, The Netherlands. Read the interview

Selective laser sintering (SLS) and HP’s multi-jet fusion (MJF) are currently the most industry-focused additive manufacturing techniques. These powder bed fusion techniques are capable of small series production of parts with complex, overhanging, geometries. Still, they are limited by their ability to process a single material at once. Truly forward-thinking manufacturing should be focused on developing ways to fabricate complex, multi-material mechanical assemblies at once. In this talk I will present Aerosint’s selective powder deposition technology and its potential to enable industrial scale multi-material 3D printing. 3D Printing Materials Conference welcomes Flam3D as Media Partner

3D Printing Materials Conference welcomes Flam3D as Media Partner

About Flam3D
3D printing or ‘additive manufacturing’ is a collection of technologies that make up a product (‘printed’) from a base stock, usually layer per layer. New markets are emerging as the production rates increase and more potential raw materials get developed. It is widely accepted that 3D printing will have a major impact on the way goods are produced and transported. The technology also offers huge opportunities for sustainable production.

Microporous materials for 3D-printing – Presented by Margot Segers, Brightlands Materials Center

Microporous materials for 3D-printing – Presented by Margot Segers, Brightlands Materials Center, at the 3D Printing Materials Conference, on April 17, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus, Geleen, The Netherlands.

Additive manufacturing provides excellent opportunities for the production of customized products with high design of freedom. The potential for expanding the range of AM photopolymer-based resins with added functionalities is huge.

Applications specifically benefitting from the design of freedom are those in the biomedical field, where complex shapes and small production series are often required. Uses like medical implants, materials for drug delivery, and scaffolds for tissue engineering can be considered. These applications, particularly the latter, can benefit from the polymer material being permeable to aqueous solutions.
