The ‘eco system’ approach from materials – printer – to post processing (part one) – Nirali Surati, DSM

Nirali Surati, DSM, will speak at 3D Printing Materials Conference on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.

This is a two-part presentation in partnership with AMT.

The ‘eco system’ approach from materials – printer – to post processing (part one) presented by DSM
The ‘eco system’ approach from materials – printer – to post processing (part two) presented by AMT

The Additive Manufacturing landscape today consists of several moving parts such as materials, machines, software, post processing technologies etc. that all need to work in harmony to ensure a positive experience for users. Varied stakeholders in the industry cater to each of these moving parts forming the ecosystem of additive manufacturing. These seemingly disconnected steps have a broad influence on the additive manufacturing experience and hence its wider adoption. The presentations talk about how DSM and AMT are working on these challenges with a combined eco-system approach.

Stereolithography 3D Printing with biobased resins – Presented by Geraldine Schnelting, Green PAC

Stereolithography 3D Printing with biobased resins – Presented by Geraldine Schnelting, Green PAC, at 3D Printing Materials Conference on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.

The accessibility of cost-competitive renewable materials and their application in additive manufacturing is essential for an efficient biobased economy. Current photopolymer resins on the commercial market for stereolithografie 3D printing are fossil-based and expensive, while the availability of low-cost renewable resins is needed to facilitate waste-free and local manufacturing of sustainable 3D products.

Recently, photopolymer resins based on renewable (meth)acrylates were developed and successfully applied in stereolithography 3D printing. Continue reading “Stereolithography 3D Printing with biobased resins – Presented by Geraldine Schnelting, Green PAC”

3D Printing with new materials like silicones, epoxy resins and polyurethanes – Presented by Simon Kasböck, ViscoTec

3D Printing with new materials like silicones, epoxy resins and polyurethanes – Presented by Simon Kasböck, ViscoTec Pumpen- u. Dosiertechnik GmbH, at the 3D Printing Materials Conference, on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.

While the additive manufacturing of metals and thermoplastics has already found its way into industrial applications, the 3D printing of fluids and pastes is still at the beginning of being used professionally. With this technology many new materials are available for the additive manufacturing process. These materials are for example silicones, epoxy resins and polyurethanes. Due to crosslinking of material between the layers at a molecular level, the mechanical properties in Z-direction are almost exactly the same as in the x-y plane.
