About Brightlands Chemelot Campus
Smart and Sustainable
Brightlands Chemelot Campus is one of the eight National Science and Innovation Parks in The Netherlands. Since 2012, the campus development is executed by a consortium of three parties: Royal DSM, the Province of Limburg and Maastricht University. In Sittard-Geleen advanced educational institutes and research institutes have been set up. Existing and new companies have developed, expanded or moved their activities to the campus. The Brightlands Innovation Factory was set up to stimulate entrepreneurship at Brightlands.
To accommodate these organizations, state-of-the-art facilities were realized, including laboratories, cleanrooms, conference centers, startup facilities as well as pilot plants. At the start of 2017, the number of people at the campus was 2500. The objective is to grow to almost 3900 community members in 2023.
We opt for sustainable and smart materials and smart and sustainable chemical processes as the main feature of the campus. In materials development, we look at entire value chains such as biomedical, automotive and packaging and focus on sustainable, efficient production of bio-based materials. For the sustainable and smart chemistry, we consciously work together with the partners at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus and the Chemelot Industrial Park. New areas we are involved in are electrification and water treatment.

The 3D Printing Design & Engineering Conference will take place on April 17, 2018, at Brightlands Chemelot Campus. At the same location, the 3D Printing Materials Conference on April 17 and the 4D Printing & Meta Materials Conference on April 18 take place.
