On December 4, 2018, Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Sittard-Geleen hosted two half-day conferences focused on Additive Manufacturing.
In the morning, during 3D Printing Post-Processing Conference, speakers from ION, AMT, Quintus Technologies, PostProcess Technologies and Fraunhofer IPT talked about various aspects related to the often overlooked third step in 3D printing: post-processing.

The talks covered issues, solutions and future trends. The presentation titles included: What kind of Surface Technology is asked for 3D-Metal-Printed items | Finishing the Job – Automated Post Processing for 3D Printed Parts | Digitized 3D Post-Printing to Enable Additive Manufacturing at Scale | Shortening the post processing chain though use of high pressure heat treatment | Advanced Manufacturing with 3D printing – Process chains of tomorrow.

In the afternoon, AM Integrated Factory Conference focused on current developments in further integration of Additive Manufacturing in production processes. Speakers from Siemens Industry Software, Sirris, TNO, Authentise and AM-Flow talked about Industrial AM for functional parts, Industrializing Additive Manufacturing, Scaling up 3D printing production with automated sorting, to mention only a few presentation titles.

Below you can see the complete program of the day.

Architecture firms Arup, CLS Architetti are 3D printing a concrete house

Architecture firms Arup, UK, and CLS Architetti, Italy, are 3D printing a concrete house as part of their 3D Housing 05 project, for this year’s Milan Design Week.

Designed to be disassembled and moved, the house will be 3D printed over the course of a week, on site at Milan’s Piazza Cesare Beccaria. It will feature a living area, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom over an area of 100 square meters. The architects intend the house to be a demonstration of the maturity of concrete 3D printing for architectural applications.
