Selective laser sintering (SLS) and HP’s multi-jet fusion (MJF) are currently the most industry-focused additive manufacturing techniques. These powder bed fusion techniques are capable of small series production of parts with complex, overhanging, geometries. Still, they are limited by their ability to process a single material at once. Truly forward-thinking manufacturing should be focused on developing ways to fabricate complex, multi-material mechanical assemblies at once. In this talk I will present Aerosint’s selective powder deposition technology and its potential to enable industrial scale multi-material 3D printing.
