Experience from HIP and Heat treatment of Printed Inconnel 718 and Ti6Al4 – Presented by Mats Sjöstedt, Quintus Technologies AB, at 3D Printing Materials Conference on April 16, during the 3D Printing Event at Brightlands Chemelot Campus in The Netherlands.

Parts that are printed and have a critical application are always requested to be treated in a Hot Isostatic Press (HIP) to remove defects to achieve a robust and stable production quality. Many printed alloys are also requested to be Heat-Treated to receive a desired microstructure for best static properties.

Quintus Technologies AB have conducted several studies were the HIP and HT has been combined in one HIP-furnace to reduce cost, lead time and improve control of the treatment. In this Presentation we will share some of the experience received from studies conducted on Inconel 718 and Ti6Al4 .
